Housing around 11 start-ups and more than 30 communities working from Collab House, we are the most active hub for making, hacking and starting-up. We have made our inevitable presence at SURGE-2016, first conference of Web Summit in India, largest of its kind so far in the country.
Web Summit is called “the best technology conference on the planet” and it has made it’s way to India as SURGE and in Bangalore. Web Summit, was founded by Paddy Cosgrave, an Irish entrepreneur who is listed as one of the most influential people from Europe in the field of technology. Co-founded by Daire Hickey and David Kelly, within a short time span of five years, managed to raise the event to global standards with an influential and rising attendee list.
The two-day has been an energetic, exciting and unique in the sectors of Technology and Entrepreneurship. SURGE 2016 on 23rd and 24th February has had more than 5,000 attendees including 500 startups, 250 investors, 200 media partners and other influencers from various countries. Hosted a series of discussions, round table sessions, tech and entrepreneurial speeches, startup pitches, product demonstrations, exhibition stalls, product launches, investor office hours, mentor hours and many more. This event has also has a predominant importance to elevate the ratio of women in Technology and entrepreneurship.

Some of the points that are discussed at the summit are how data can give you a business edge over your competitors, how mobile wallets are going to get the edge off transactions, how startups can sustainably scale their businesses, what would be the major trends that could change the facets of enterprises as well as how can businesses better align their strategies across sales, marketing and customer service.
The PITCH event, has seen many energetic entrepreneurs giving a pitch about their idea, technology or service with judging panel including Flipkart’s Sachin Bansal, 500 Startups’ Dave McClure, FuturePerfect Ventures’ Jalak Jobanputra and Google’s Sunil Rao. Out of the 40 selected submissions, Arcatron Mobility took the Google prize valued at $100,000 as the PITCH winner. Runners up were Locus.sh and SME Corner who both took home SME Corner $20,000 worth of credit for Google Cloud Platform products.

Collab House has witnessed and congratulated Ather Energy on account of the launch of ‘S340’ a ‘smart’ electric scooter which comes with a touch screen dashboard. It has a top speed of 72kmph and charges up to 80% with in an hour. Ather energy was founded by IIT-Madras alumni Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jaina and is backed by the Founders of Flipkart.
We at Collab House focus on the cutting edge maker technologies which are out to disrupt the main stream functionality of present technologies, making the world simpler and better place to live. SURGE had a dedicated exhibition slot for IoT, hardware, Virtual reality, Big data and End to end solution providing startups and they named it as ‘Builders’, yes we are builders of the coming generation.
